Chi Omega is honored to support our local philanthropy, Still Creek Girls Ranch. Since 1988. Still Creek Ranch has provided housing and outreach services to children “who need a second chance in life.” Up to thirty children live in two cottages: Still Creek Boys Ranch and Still Creek Girls Ranch. They range in age from 8-18 and are given the opportunity to grow up in a Christ-centered, structured environment as well as attend private school on the grounds. Still Creek Ranch operates solely on donations. They receive no state, federal, government, or United Way funding. It requires $50,000 a month to operate the facilities, which includes food, clothing, and program operations.
Chi Omega is honored to support Still Creek Girls Ranch both financially and through volunteer time. Ultimately, it is much more than giving money and putting in hours. As college kids, we yearn consistency as well as these kids. The youth of Still Creek have been taken out of crisis and inconsistent conditions. The least we can do is make these kids feel loved and cared for. This opportunity to serve Still Creek not only benefits the Ranch but Chi Omega as well. The mission of Still Creek Ranch is to teach kids how valuable they are and give them an opportunity for a better life. With love and dedication, they are trained to work hard and be responsible, so they may live life with purpose.
Make-A-Wish Foundation® is Chi Omega's philanthropy, an organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. Every year, Texas A&M Chi Omega selects a girl from the Bryan/College Station area and uses part of the money raised through Songfest to grant a wish through Make-A-Wish Foundation. Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation’s mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish® experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors, and entire communities. Make-A-Wish is dear to Chi Omega's heart. As young women, we are able to be apart of something bigger than ourselves.
