I sat at my computer for a long time before typing this because I had no clue even
where to begin… I have so much to be thankful for from my time in Chi Omega that I
could not find the words to express it. So, I guess starting at the beginning will suffice…
In the beginning God crea…
Ha jokes, not that far in the beginning…. anyway, my first two years of college I
attended and played volleyball for the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. UMHB was a
great school, but I soon realized the Lord was leading me down a different path. After
my sophomore year, I decided to transfer to the one university my family did not want
me to go… Texas A&M! My entire family are Longhorn’s (sssss!), so this came as quite
a shock to everyone, but I have always walked to the beat of my own drum. I knew in
my heart I had made the right choice.
Transferring into A&M as a junior I was in a constant tug-of- war between whether
to rush or not. After praying about it a lot, I eventually asked myself: what’s the worst
that could happen? Holy cow, little did I know I was about to set forth on the coolest and
most life altering journey of my life. I have Chi Omega to thank for creating the means
for me to find my people, get closer to the Lord, and learn to let go and enjoy this crazy
thing called life.
Chi Omega is an amazing organization, but what makes it truly special are the
remarkable women involved in it. So, thank you Chi O for putting women in my life that
are truly and unapologetically themselves. Thank you for those that inspire me in my
faith. Thank you for those that are humble and push me to be as well. Thank you for
those that are encouraging in everything. Thank you for those that are just straight up
cool, kind, generous, joyful, and empowering.
Also, thank you Chi Omega for helping me find “my people.” They listen when I
need an ear. Dance with me always. Watch Harry Potter with me. Let me rant to them.
Sing off-pitched with me. Drag me to the gym. Talk me off the ledge. Kill cockroaches
for me. Let me borrow their clothes. Eat Chick-Fil- A with me. Take me on crazy
adventures. Quote Friends with me. Love me no matter what. These girls have truly
help shaped me into the person I am right now.
Chi O is an organization that brings together women that empower each other
and love each other through thick and thin. I am constantly filled with joy by these
women I have grown to know. Chi Omega has been the biggest blessing. I am a firm
believer that everything happens for a reason and I am truly thankful for everything Chi
O has brought to my life.
